Manawatu Aerial Photo Services started business in 1990 and became a registered company in 1994.

MAPS prime activity is the Forestry Mapping of Forest Estates and the associated photography of these areas when required, using SCAP (Small Camera Aerial Photography).

The company uses a medium format Hasselblad camera with a variety of lenses. PC based Orthorectification software is used with a digital terrain model to convert to orthophotography.

We believe that we have a competitive advantage when it comes to providing detailed maps of Forestry Blocks and Farms. In the lower North Island this is more evident when up to date photography is required.

The company sub-contracts to a Feilding based Aviation Company for the provision of light aircraft for the purpose of Aerial Photography. This company has several aircraft with camera hatches.

Being based in Palmerston North, we are in the centre of the lower North Island and can reach New Plymouth - Turangi - Napier - Wellington and the Marlborough Sounds within 1 hours flying time in low cost light aircraft.

Manawatu Aerial Photo Services employs 2 permanent staff and the owner who have a total of over 40 years experience in Survey, Draughting and 25 years Aerial Photography.

Manawatu Aerial Photo Services has been mapping digitally since May 1995 and uses GIS desktop mapping software.

We have used Orthorectification software since 1998.

We more recently acquired software to do contouring from SCAP photography.
